1.What is Communication window

The communication window, also called the Johari window, also known as the "discovery-feedback model of self-awareness", is a technique and theory of communication originally proposed by Joseph and Harry in the 1950s. Communication window can be divided into four quadrants: privacy quadrant, blind quadrant, potential quadrant, public quadrant.

1.1.Privacy quadrant

When managers make some decisions, it is often difficult to realize the existing problems, that is, they enter the blind quadrant. However, when these mistakes are pointed out, managers are often unwilling to accept them and show anger. 1.3. Potential quadrant


The potential quadrant refers to things that are unknown to you and others. As a manager, we should overcome the prejudice caused by our own subjective will, treat team members fairly with standardized procedures, and create a fair competition environment, so as to stimulate the potential of the team.

1.4. Open quadrant


The public quadrants are those things that we know other people know, such as: name, gender, height, etc. This is also the most important in team management. Personal working process is the process of expanding the public quadrant: from just graduating and entering the workplace with few people and little experience, to more and more experience, to undertake more and more important tasks, and then to manage their own team and become the leader in the industry. One can increase one's credibility with the team by expanding one's public quadrant.

The fourth level is "don't know what you know". People at this level have acquired great wisdom, basically understand the world, and are able to integrate various resources for their own use. In real life, such people are often leaders in all walks of life.
